-start "Knoten is a very simple semantic desktop application that you can use to download an RDF graph from the Web, and have each resource in the graph represented as an object on your desktop. Once you have done that, you can easily connect those resources to other objects on your desktop, for example with Kante. I'll give you a short demo of how Knoten works." - double-clicks Knoten, application starts "On the left you see a list of graphs that I have previously downloaded." - selects the last graph in the list: "http://www.w3.org/2000/10/swap/test/dbork/data/Country.daml" "For example, I have downloaded an ontology of countries from the W3C website." - scrolls up and down the list of countries, then selects second graph: "file:/Users..." "I have also downloaded another RDF graph (which I made myself), which adds icons for each country. Because both graphs use the same URIs, the information from them is merged in Knoten. That's where the little country flags on the right come from." - selects "All Resources" "I can also select 'All Resources', and get a list of all the RDF resources in all graphs I have downloaded." - sheet with Graph URL text field opens "I'll show you what happens when we download a new graph. As an example, I will download Eyal Oren's foaf file." - types "http://eyaloren.org/foaf.rdf" into the text field, clicks ok "So I just type in the URL of that file ... and click OK" - a new graph appears on the left: "http://eyaloren.org/foaf.rdf" "So, there we have the new graph, and when we click on it, we can see all the resources Eyal has in it." - Spotligh window opens "Each resource is now represented on the desktop, and is therefore also indexed by the Spotlight metadata index. That of course means I can now search for it using Spotlight." - types "aciverdf" in search text field "For example, I can search for 'activerdf'. Among other things, I will find the RDF Resource 'ActiveRDF', which we had just downloaded." - types "ireland" in the text field "Or I can search for one of the countries in the country ontology I downloaded earlier."
